Chrome Operating Systems - Chrome OS Introductory Lesson Plan
Lesson Title: What is Chrome?
Introduction: This is an introduction to Chrome Operating System for students. It will help them understand the Chrome Browser and many of its key features that are beneficial in education.
Content Area and Grade or Age Level of Students: Technology/Literacy - 2nd - 12th graders
Objectives: The students will have an understanding about the Chrome Browser as well as the system operation of Chrome OS.
Standards Addressed: ISTE Standards for Students: Technology Operations and Concepts- Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations.
Relative Advantage: Using Chrome browser with Google Apps for Educations can incorporate much collaboration and creativity in all Common Core Literacy Standards
Timeline: 30 minutes
Materials: Students with Chromebooks - Google Form shared before and after presentation
Grouping Strategies: All participants will need their Chromebook for this activity
Learning Activities:
1. Students will log on to their email and take a short pre-evaluation of their current
knowledge about Chrome Browser and Chromebooks. By using Google Form
and its Summary of Responses, we will then look at
current data to show everyone’s knowledge and discuss and “trends”.
2. Students will actively listen as the presentation is given by the teacher about
Chrome Operating System - see embedded presentation below
3. Students will actively watch movie on Chrome OS and how it got started.
4. Students will take a short quiz on Chrome OS to see knowledge gained from
presentation and video.
5. Students will then discuss answers and how they differed from pre-evaluation.
Assessment: Short Quiz
Adaptations for Learners with Special Needs: This Chrome OS video would be available for preview for ELL and children with special needs. This will front load certain vocabulary words and concepts before lesson is taught
